Neighbor shot a big buck this am and asked if he could track it through my place. I said yes.

After 200 yards of "some meat and blood" turning into pin drop blood, they lost trail.

This was where buck was first standing after shot:

Looks like lung to me. Yall think it's dead? Gonna resume hunt tomorrow if they don't find him.

looks like the liver to me? 200 yards at full throttle isn't much for a buck, but I bet he is laying somewhere by now the way you describe the "scene".

It's 200 yards through very dense woods.

I'll look for buzzards tomorrow and in the creek. That's where I bet he ends up.

I think he's dead, but I've certainly been wrong before.

I'd check around any water in the area...seen a lot of animals travel to ponds or water sources after being injured! Good luck!

I don't think its lung but from what you describe, he's probably laid up somewhere. Call in the dogs.

Looks like brisket blood, more than likely in front of the shoulders or possibly below the vitals and behind the front legs.

He said it just stood there for 5 minutes after he shot.

Hope you guys are right assuming he doesn't find it. Hate for a deer to go to waste like that.

Hope I see/find him tomorrow.

According to the guy tracking him, he's not bleeding at all.

If he's not getting good blood at a spot where the deer stood for 5 minutes after being shot he's got problems. What was shot distance and bullet type?

There was good blood at the shot site. That's the picture.

Trail just dried up.

No and you will see him again or kill him on corn or oats. He will loose a lot of weight and if the coyotes don't get him he will live. Brisket or frontal brisket shots usually bleed like a stuck hog for 200-300 yards then quit. I when I say quit they quit totally.
