Is there a significant difference in the Viper and the Crossfire?

Yes, both optically and mechanically.
The Crossfire II is a better scope than its former self. Completely different factory now. However the Viper is a much better optic.
Mechanically the Viper has a zero reset and better lenses.
Also, the Viper's are made in the Philippines. Better quality control over China.

I figured so with the price difference. I have a Viper that I'm very happy with. I also have 3 more rifles that I want to re scope. Thought I might could save a few bucks, but not with that being said. Thank you

You would be going backwards, providing you did that. I mean that is ok, as long as you are satisfied with your purchase. However, there is a noticeable difference in my opinion.

I'm a huge fan of the Vortex. I prefer the PST Line. I have always had great luck with vortex
