Well let me start this off by saying I used my only 13" buck tag already so spare me the grief I got in the blind just after 4:20 and ran deer off that were on left over corn from this morning. Had my camera set up like I always do. Deer started to filter back in after about 15 minutes. Had some bucks showing up and one of the mature 8's that was here all year in my TC pics was moving in behind the feed pen. I looked up and he was bristling up off to my right. I knew it was a buck by his posture. But I was not expecting what stepped out into the opening. No tag left but had a CF card in the camera so it was time for pics.

He surveyed the surroundings and decided it was election time.

He walked toward the other mature 8. When I saw this posture and licking of his lips I knew what was about to go down.

I turned the camera to auto setting and ran the ISO up for pics that were going to have motion in them. They did.



They were very evenly match body size and in strength. It was a stand off with not one give an inch either way.


They got behind the feed pen and lost focus off and on due to it. I was shooting frames as fast as my camera would let me but still had to stop and wait for it to process images.

You can see the power in the bucks in these pics. They were not playing at all. I was not really sure who was going to win at this point.

The winner was crowned and he escorted the old sheriff out of town.





To the victor go the spoils...or in this case all the does.

One last pic of him. He tortured me till way after dark till I could not see anymore. I finally had to get out hoping he was gone.


Editing to add a better pic of the buck he got into the fight with. He came back in after about 30 minutes but wanted no part of the bigger 8. I was shocked that he lost the fight. But the other buck got underneath him and that was it. He gave up, tucked tail and ran for his life.

Brows, length, MBs, decent mass/width to follow.. Mature, dominant, great first entrance... Character that you dream for, insane slick 8 frame... Should I keep going...

He will put on another 10 inches next year. Great buck and some of the coolest pics I've ever seen.

I unfriend you

Yes after this morning hunt and he was not in any of the pics. I could tell after he kicked arse and took names on his return he was spooked a bit of the feed pen and surroundings he had not been around here this year. I might have a couple of really blurry TC pics of a buck that could be him a from last year about this time. Different feeder but very similar buck, just that buck appeared to be a year older than this buck.

Awsome pics and I might add that the narration was not too shabby either!

He came in around 5 this afternoon then stayed an ate corn and nudge does around till well after dark. I finally could not see anymore so I had to hope he had left when I got out.
