19 years of hunting in the SNF, took out some decent bucks and some good ol' does. More meat for the freezer. Watched the weather this week, couldn't go down for this weekend, so I opted for a 1 1/2 day hunt, while this cold front blows in at the peak of the rut. Yesterday morning at 9:05 am, a nice 3yr. old with a 15" I.S.comes in grunting and leading two mature does with him. Buddy it was cold. I think it was 31 degrees with the wind blowing pretty hard. 20 feet up in my climber, and about a 20 yrd. shot with my old trusty Savage .270, dropped him on the spot. I are a happy hunter. This buck skirted me on the end of bow season at 125 yrds. with my crossbow, and again, behind me for the opener of general season. Third times a charm I guess, thank you Lord.
