Headed back out this weekend and figured i would ask everyone's opinion on which stand to sit Saturday and Sunday:

This is always the toughest part!

Stand 1: Two creek branches converge into one bordered by really thick cover to the E across the creek from the stand . good movement, a few great rubs and some nice scrape line starting to show. i hunted it last weekend and saw several different young bucks chasing does throughout the morning, overall two really good hunts. here is the issue, on sunday a buck ran a doe past the stand and separated her from one of her two fawns. dang the luck but the fawn is out in front of me in the brush bleating and the mom turns around and starts walking right under my stand to get back to it. needless to say she snorts and makes all kinds of racket for about ten minutes before working her way back around to get her fawn. funniest part is, about 5 minutes later two bucks come following after. i figure the snorting drew them in, which i have never seen before. E wind on Saturday will blow at your back upstream on the creek, N wind on Sunday will blow into the thickest cover around across the creek.


Stand 2: on another creek branch. this stand is right outside a bedding area and is surrounded by some really thick pine thicket behind where the stand faces. it is about a 100 yard walk through thick brush and i havent been to it since season started. while i was scouting, i saw several old rubs and trails running along the creek, but i havent been back yet to see how it looks. the area has great potential for ambushing them as the work the creek bottom and go to and from their bedding area but i just havent been out there to survey the situation. E wind on Saturday will blow at your back out of the thicket across the creek and over the heaviest trail, North wind will blow from downstream as the creek flows out of the bedding area.

Which do you hunt? Do you keep with the good stand and keep pressuring the area or do you try the unproven spot? Weather is going to be great this weekend so I want to make the most of the chances i have. Next time i will make it out will be thanksgiving. I hunt in deep east texas between rayburn and toledo bend and after that, the rut is typically over.

I would pick the one that has the best food and most does. The older bucks will be where the does are. Some of them get stupid at this time of the year.

Keep with the deer movement.

Either should be good with the acorn crop, go with your gut. The more options and shoulda coulda wouldas I get the less I enjoy the hunt and the likely I feel that I will be successful.

I'd make sure to hunt #2 at least once. With the lack of hunting pressure I'd think it would be good. I always like to split my time between different stands as equally an possible, it prevents over-hunting a certain spot and gives you a better chance of seeing a buck that you probably wouldn't see at the other stands.

I'd go 2 the 1sst day and see how it plays out
