Whoa there big man. Torches are expensive, use a roadflare. It gives you more time to get out and move along before the blind is fully engulfed!!!  Dang if that dosen't read with the sound of experience.

Best part about it was I have never used a call hunting until this morning, only practiced at home. I've always just went with where I saw ducks, threw decoys, and waited quietly. This morning I decided to give it a shot calling and had numerous groups circle and lock up coming into my spread. I couldn't believe it and it just gave me that extra rush of knowing that I called my first mallard in.

I never understood why people want to build and leave blinds on public land.
If you're there first ask them to join if they show up, otherwise tell 'em to go kick rocks. Last season opening day I went to the spot where I usually hunt. Its about a 1 mile walk. When I got there with my layout blind, there was a blind there already. Sure enough some guys showed up later and we hunted together and had a good hunt. They were good guys. Later in the year, I was hunting a spot and two guys showed up way later. They started to set up right across from me, literally within range of my gun. I asked if we could hunt together and they refused. They insisted on hunting right across the pond from me. They finally decided to leave vs. hunt together. They were not good guys... Its first come first served but its still nice to meet new people, that's one of the nice things about duck hunting.

 The only reason I would build a blind on public land is to keep people away from where I'm really hunting. Banded mallards in warm blinds...might as well been in Arkansas. Keep on killin

No Guy. My lake lot is only about 600 yards from the blind. Didn't want someone to see and mess with anything while I'm gone if they are on here haha.
