Been putting alot of hours iinsince opening weekend of rifle and only seen 5 deer but a crap load of tracks. Only seen 1 doe and a really nice buck that would not come out of the beush one morning and 2 other young bucks by themselves in the evenings. Have a tc setup at the feeder and have only 2 night feeding of 2 doe and alot of 2 young bucks feeding at night. Tracks EVERYWHERE just nothing coming in to the feeder it seems during morning and evening hunts, I am hunting burnet county just wondering if anyone is having same issues.

I think the moon has a lot of animals moving at night. Hopefully it starts getting better.

I'm not anywhere near your location, but its been similar at our place. Lots of deer sign, but it seems to be almost exclusively at night. On my best sit this year, I watched 6 deer and none of them went to the feeder. I'm hoping this cold weather will get things to pick up.

I have seen the deer early on the acorns and new plant growth, but with this extended cold snap, I'd bet feeders see more clients. Deer are also finally spending more time in my food plots with the last rain we had, so if you have a FP, may get busy with grocery shoppers. BTW, Opening weekend, I had more TC photos of (younger bucks) from 9:45-11:30am and out as early as 3:45pm

We have started corning roads/clearings and have had a ton of success. Deer will walk through and eat on the road and not pay any attention to the feeder that is 30 yards away.

my feeders have been hit sproadically lately, and I don't have any TC on my food plots but I did watch three doe in the food plot the last evening hunt we did (opening saturday). I think there have been a lot of natural groceries for them to eat and I am really hoping the extended freezes in my area will bring them to the feeders more often. Time will tell. Moon phases and timings haven't been as good for hunting either with full moons all night long. As natural forbs die off from frost and moon phase comes into alignment with hunting, I expect to see some good action this weekend. I just hope my expectations are correct The other thing is the rut happening right now, which may have all the deer tied up in their homeland and not travelling to my lease, or maybe just keeping them out of the feed pens and away from the TC. Add to that the winds and cold front moving in and it is the perfect recipe for me not to be hunting right now and waiting for the weekend...

Maybe quit hunting the feeder and start hunting where the tracks are?

After last weekend's poor showing I was honestly considering not hunting this week...
BUT, the change in the weather has given me enough motivation to be in the stand come Saturday.

Same for us....between the acorns and full moon feeder traffic has been lite but I expect that to change this weekend.

The 2"+ rain total last week and what I have had over the past 3 weeks now has really greened things up around here. Deer have backed off protein and corn. Chasing all that new green growth at night.

Agree with STX big time after I pulled TC cards today and a 75% reduction in my feeder use, plot is getting hammered though. I have normal daytime patterns still with the does, am and pm and all night. The times they are at the feeder now, is generally dark.

Bucks are starting to roam a bit now also. My oats in 2 plots is doing well but one the army worms got half of it last week. So I replanted it on Monday. It still has the outside edges and they are hitting it pretty good now the past few days. I can watch does/fawns feeding in towards the feeders/corn and some don't even make it in and leave. The few bucks that are around usually start chasing the does around and most all the does leave after a while also.

I did check 2 of the scrapes I had found, they are being worked hard, licking branches are bare now and all kinds of tracks. I may move a TC to the larger one tomorrow, if I get back home early enough. Should have done it today, but old age got in the way I guess.....and I "aint" old

I'm in Clay county with very little activity at the feeders though I found lots of tracks where the acorns are.

Same in Hamilton county. Not hitting feeders at all. Turned feeders all the way down. Way too much corn under the feeders two weeks ago. Seen deer moving but bypassing feeders altogether. Hopefully the cold will put them back in the mood.

A good freeze will kill off some of the new growth. Usually within 3 days of a hard killing frost the deer start to hit corn or small grain plots.

They are already hitting my plot hard, cropping it to 1-2" A mixture I threw together late fall. It will also start leaves to change (yellow) and some, like the Osage orange, will get eaten when yellow and high in sugars. Last year, I watched 3 does under an Osage tree that is about 45' from my stand, they wold stand there and go after each leaf that fell, was quite comical. Have seen them do the same with wild plum and a few other bush/tree leaves. I think one thing is for sure, allot of deer will make it to next season
