Went to Lake Sam Rayburn on the south end to try our luck and did not see anywhere near the amount of ducks we thought we were going to. There were woodies everywhere at first light, then nothing until about 8 when a few pintails would circle and in true pintail fashion they would stay just far enough out we couldnt get a shot then they would boogie on. Overall we got 6 woodies but we had a great time sitting around the campfire drinkin some cold ones.

oh and btw wardens were out and about. we got stopped by one from sabine county who didnt seemed to pleased to be out of his county.

QA you still have not shot a wood duck? SR is a good place to do it, I haven't shot any this season or last season, but I seen quite a few scouting this year. Scouted one lake that's just about I saw.

Thats pretty much all we saw. But of course some hunters who showed up about 15 min before shooting time next to us decided to shoot at everything thing that flew by, coots and crows included.

bearkat11, a few people are joking around because you named the lake you are hunting on and even zeroed into the area somewhat. A lot of people think that is bad manners on the internet due to fear of other people all crashing in on that spot to hunt. Some people don't mind. I'm just letting you know why the weird responses.

We also have a public land hunting forum you can post in, although you are welcome to post whatever you want here or anywhere else.

Welcome to the site, and for everyone else, don't forget to play nicely laugh
