Hunting out of an all metal deer blind this year. Sunday I had 10 point 8p 6p and 2does directly downwind of me 35 yards eating corn. Never showing any problem of smelling me. Conditions 75 degrees and 15 -20 miles an hour winds. Also I’m ten feet in the air. This has never happen to me

Well, let's analyze this. Do you have cows in the pastures? If so, lots of crap in the field and they'd be used to that scent already. Now I'm not attacking you personally, I'm just sayin........ bolt
Yep you're probably right. The blind is air tight. roflmao

Scent is a fickle thing. Not all deer blow out at the first scent of a human being. I always do my best to hunt downwind of anticipated deer movement, but it doesn't always pan out and I have had deer upwind of me and never offer a second glance.

How come everybody I meet is a deer hunting expert?

This afternoon I was sitting on the ground, winds 10-15 mph. Had a doe come out down wind at 50 yards, crossing the trail I walked in on, shortly after a spike stopped by to pester her. Only thing either of them paid attention to was a dog barking in the distance. Sunday evening had 4 bucks, all came out down wind less than 100 yards the only one that acted like he smelled me was a mature 8, one of the spikes came as close as 10 yards licking a branch of the brush I was sitting in. None of them spooked..as said before, scent is a fickle thing.

Sometimes they spook, sometimes they don't. Box blinds will help but do not stop the scent and don't think you would want it air tight...

Just because some stay, doesn't mean that others will too. I try to avoid allowing deer down wind and wouldn't hunt a stand that they were feeding directly down wind.

Good luck up

I am trying this to see how it works. I gotsome of those 2 hot does sticks and hung them in the middle of the windows of the box blind.Theory is that it will help mask my scent while lureing them in. Has anyone done this before?

I like to spray buck scent on branches and leaves around me. Hasn't appeared to hurt anything yet...Also I hunt an operating ranch with people in and out daily so the deer may be a little more accustomed to human scent and not spook as easily. Now if they actually see you its a whole different story

Yes, I do this. Don't know if it helps but surely it can't hurt and it certainly makes me feel like I'm doing something smart.
