I feel the same way. I'll gladly pass on a buck and make someone who has been working hard on the lease know where I saw him with hopes he will take him. But nothing chaps my butt more than for someone who seldom lifts a finger, let one get away and then try to blow it off as "it happens to everyone." If you're not able to take a shot with a very high degree of certainty of being successful, stay your arse at home. No one should be in the woods to see what they "can" hit, but rather, what they "will" hit.

All reasons I wont get on a lease again. Too many argument's about who filled the feeders, who showed up to repair blinds, who shot what, who hunts where, yada, yada, yada. My lease is too far to go more than three times.

I will take the $3500 +/- I spend a year on lease, travel, lodging, feed, "stuff" and go on a great package hunt, enjoy the fruits of others labor, take a nice animal if I want and take it to the house.

I know he isn't going back out until the week of Thanksgiving. Out of common courtesy I don't plan on going back out until he has his buck or til around mid to late December, whichever comes first. But, ya got me thinkin'. Maybe I should text him a pic this weekend of my son with a dead hog under his feeder. I won't tell him it was from this Spring when we were turkey hunting. Might as well have fun with it. stir

clap I like to jack with irrational people and stir occasionally. Even better went they get all bent. Most the guys I hunt with don't pay attention or believe me half the time because I have jacked with them so much.

We had one guy that would go anywhere he thought a big deer might be or that someone had seen one. I took a couple of pics of two big deer and told him I saw them twice by the camp dump. He sat in a tripod over the dump for two weekends rofl

So do you waste feed and time on him letting him grow or cull him to let a better prospect fill his spot? nidea

A little off topic, but what do you guys think about community blinds? Have any of you had experience with it? Pros/cons?

I would call him a drama queen. You can't hunt when your not there. If he would of been there he might of got a nice one as well. One of those bucks on that amount of property could of easily visited his stand before you and your brothers. Congrats on a very nice buck. up

WAY back off topic. But my last experience with it wasn't as good as previous. Let's just say that if you are all good friends, all on the same page management and shooting choices wise, all put the same good effort into the spot you maintain then it should be okay. But when you show up Friday night and Billy Bob has sat in the stand you work you butt off to make inviting to the deer and he maybe has corn in the feeder he maintains, you know, throwing for two or three seconds, then it can get to be a very frustrating experience.

And most of the guys on that lease were good people. Would hunt with most of them again and several of them I didn't mind sharing with. It's the one or two that mess it up for the rest of us.

leases can go all sorts of ways. people can get jealous of deer that others shot and they didn't, people can get jealous of deer that other people are seeing and not shooting...that they wish they could see.

if deer management for age is not part of the plan that all people are participating in where you hunt...then there's not much point in trying to propagate it. you'll just frustrate yourself. you ended up with a nice deer anyways...so its easier for you....and the other guy got that 10pt so its easy for him. the other guy has nothing yet. he should be a good sport...but harder to swallow.

we hunted a place similar to this for many years. there was no deer management. many bucks and many young bucks killed. I did my part for several years to tag out on younger 8's and such because if I didn't shoot them...someone else would. ultimately the deer you shoot is a deer you are happy with. if you're excited and proud to hang your tag on him...then shoot him. who cares about the rest. if he's not what you're hunting for then let him walk.

on that property I got to a point where shooting those younger bucks simply wasn't that entertaining to me anymore. I wanted to see them get bigger and older. so I stopped shooting them. some ended up being killed by other hunters...but some weren't and survived. I took to shooting does...filled my license with them. other hunters probably thought I was crazy. passing bucks that others would have shot only to shoot does. but I had a blast with it. it was more rewarding for me than shooting a buck simply to say I shot him before someone else did.

You think you know someone until you've been on a lease with him.

Wondering if they are going to hash it out face to face or let the drama unfold right here. I hope the latter. Pass the popcorn, Scooter.

What'd I say? What'd I say? I was just curious how Mr. Ford found the thread. "Why" is a whole 'nother can of worms.

Welcome JimmmyFord.
