So as I'm eating breakfast my dad shows up, says he had gotten me something from the feed store (mind you I'm 30 lol) and I still get surprises from my dad. Well its this !!!!! 50# of MORTON SALT lol He said he used it as he was growing up. My question not doubting my dads at any means, but does it help with deer.. Not as too antlers tho. Thanks

Like everything, deer need and crave salt and other minerals. But the cows will like it too.

Hogs and porcupines love them also.

If they need it, they will use it. That block will last a couple years (with no livestock). I have seen deer use the brown mineral salt block more , but still very little . Watched a couple small bucks on mine early in the week, dont see it often.

I pick up one for each of my feeder locations, but hard to tell from your picture if its slightly yellow??? also referred to as a sulfur salt block??? the animals (deer, cows, hogs, etc.) will lick it and take on the sulfur, which in turn helps reduce ticks and fleas.

Used the brown trace mineral blocks quite a bit. Some places they hit them regularly some places they didn't touch them. I have had the best luck pouring a bag of stock salt on an old stump.

Never used straight up salt block but did buy a mineral block once. It lasted all season and looked like nothing touched it. In the off season it finally disapeard and I thought ha something finally ate it. About 3-4 years later kicking around looking for a key that was dropped I stumbled upon the block and other than weathering it looked no worse for ware and nothing had been eating on it.
However we have also put out several bales of alfalfa and our deer wouldn't touch it.
It's hell eatin em live

When I was a kid we would goto the family's in KY+moms side) and my uncle and cousins would pour mounds of regular salt they swore by it. Lol
My 'Bama family (dads) as well would do the same
I guess we will find out. I wish i had hogs just coons. Lol
Thanks again

i have had pretty good luck with deer cane before. like they said though it just depends on where you have it. i have seen deer on it so i know it works, but it seems like they are all over certain sites and wont touch others. i have 3 sites and just throw a new block next to the old one whenever i see it get low. cant hurt and it isnt that expensive. if they arent on it the situation is the same as my deer feeders right now, corn growing under them and all.

A lot of the soils and plants have enough salt for the deer's needs. You will see them use it some but not enough to lure them you IMO.
