Local Rancher tells me they don't produce Acorns just the tiny seeds that drop, wich I've seen. I have read that Post Oaks produce Acorns but there are many varieties across the country. If they don't produce Acorns I can concentrate on Live Oaks. Actually I haven't seen any acorns last two years or this year yet, but corn is piling up under the feeders so deer are eating somewhere else!

Surely someone on this board has an idea if they have seen Post Oaks bearing mast in Stephens county, Breckenridge area? Anytime, not just right now.

I have post oaks and have tons of small acorns under them this year...

I have hunted in between breckenridge and eastland for the past 5 years and have never seen a significant acorn crop on the post oaks. This year is actually a little better than the past several, but they are small, mostly haven't fallen yet, and don't seem too enticing to the deer. Perhaps because they are mixed with the oak galls (red berry-looking structure caused my a wasp injection on the underside of the leaves) which seem to be WAY more prevalent than the few acorns that have fallens so far.

We've got post oaks on our lease in SW Stephens county. Some of the trees are producing very small acorns. I'm not sure if these tiny acorns would be that significant of a food source for our deer, but we aren't seeing many deer at our feeders so it could be the acorns. I don't really know what to think ...

Could be the last rains we had recently as well, I can surely see some forb growth (weeds) here from the last 2"er we got in conjunction with acorns.

I've got 1 tree with acorns(big ones) that the deer I think are climbing. they are tearing them up!
