My intentions are not to go into detail..refund pending..but there was a divorce in the landowners marriage and ex served him papers to bar any hunting on land..that's what we r being told..so in search of a 2015 deer lease..don't want to TALK too much..refund of lease funds pending...so anybody know of an opening..would appreciate any leads

Don't see how they could do that if you where in a contract but none the less that sucks for sure

It was her land before they were married..not community property..I can't say too much..

Jcb..another thf'r and his dad and I were involved in a shady deal sorta like this..but not until spring turkey..after we had shot our deer..that's about as far as I will go until I get my refund..hopefully

Had a similar incident but I never got money back. His story was that wife took all the money but he also disappeared. I hope your deal is legit and you are refunded.

If there was a contract and she didn't sign it, feel lucky if you get your money back. If you have been dealing with the estranged husband you may be out of luck. Bummer.

Every lease I have participated in- either lessor or leasee- ALWAYS has a knock out clause- either party at any time- with no reason

I know..it really sucks..but he did refund my money..still not as bad as a friend and his dad I was on a lease a while back..we lost our lease through some unscrupulous crud from a lease boss..had 3 yes 3 leases in one year...won't ever lease from a lease boss named sonny..right jcb?...looking for 2015..

I recall my dad's group back in the 70s that had a lease that they paid in advance for a 10 year lease agreement with the LO for a bit of a discount. 5 years into the lease, the LO approached dad's group that both of his sons were getting married in the spring and building their new homes on the ranch and they didn't want any hunting around their homes ... in other words, this would be the last year to hunt. No refund at all. After several discussions with the LO, he merely said "well, just take another 5 years of deer off the place this season" ...

it happens. it sucks, but it happens. folks die or get divorced. sometimes you have to leave mid-season. if you had an actual written contract then I suppose you're maybe entitled to something. but you'd have to spend money in court to enforce it. its really not worth your time.

if you're getting your money back I'd consider that best case scenario.

number one rule of leasing though is you do whatever the landowner requires. in texas even a court would probably enforce that. private property laws are pretty stiff.
