This buck has been hanging around like this for about 2 weeks. The Game Warden has been out a couple of time but this fellow is gone by the time the warden shows up. It doesn't appear to be in a vital spot but an infection is very likely . Just a reminded to be careful about your shot.
Wait for the right shot. It the broadside photo it almost appears to be an entry or an exit wound.

Sad situtation indeed, time to put down the camera and pick up a rifle.

Can't pick up a rifle, we live in a subdivision where everyone only has a acre or two. There is a ranch next door and that probably where the buck came from.

Bad shots happen with both gun and bow, I wouldn't post a picture of it though. Guess that's just me.

I agree, and thought about it for quite a while before posting. I just wanted to remind everyone that we have a responsibility when we go hunting. Make sure is a good opportunity before pulling the trigger or releasing an arrow.

Update : In spite of his injury I watched him chasing a doe this morning across my yard and across the street to a neighbors and still going.

Young deer as well. He will be fine once it pulls loose.

Somebody in the neighborhood could have tried to stick him and failed.

To be determined

That may or may not have been a bad shot. Buck jumping or moving last second could easily put the shot there.

Hard to judge if you don't have the story. And we don't.

I saw a doe in town the other day in the same situation, but a field point was the culprit

Hate to see that, but deer are resilient creatures. Keep an eye out for him and keep us updated. Sounds like he will be fine
