Believe me I thought about it all night last night. If he comes back in tonight he might not be so lucky. I have a bad itch that needs scratching. He needs to grow up a little though. Imagine what he will be at age 4 or 5. There is no hunting pressure for miles in this area other than me.

Happy Birthday! You did the right thing-keep on hunting! I passed a young deer Nov 1 that was 20" wide, next morning took my personal best.

Good move passing on the younger buck, it would have been easy for me since he doesn't appear to meet AR width.
The buck you are after is mucho nicer!
Good luck!

Good luck! What I was thinking as well, but sometimes it's hard to confirm from a photo. You get the bigger one and you will never regret letting him walk, rolling the dice sometimes is hard. Good luck with him and

Good job IMO! I passed my first 3.5 yr old this year on my in laws ranch. He was a really nice 8, about the same size as this one. I still feel like it was the right decision and hope I can take an older buck over thanksgiving!

I think you made the right decision on letting him walk. Patience for a bigger buck will pay off.
