Stay with it. Sounds like your doing all the right things to get the deer in front of you. Spend a couple extra seconds to sure up your position before taking the shot. Good luck!

This, and easy squeeze on the trigger. Sounds like a fun hunt anyway.

If you don't get exited, time to stop hunting, it's normal...You just need to be in control for 20 seconds, your rifle will do it's part if you do yours.

Gun may have jammed because you "racked it back" weak from excitement, that "feeling" doesn't happen at the range, so you probably just used poor mechanics that time around, no biggy.

As the guys said, control your breathing, exhale halfway, pause, pull trigger. When he goes down, make sure to remember to start breathing again grin

If you hunt long enough, we all have this experience sooner or later. Some times with rattling you are just not ready for it to REALLY work, and when it does it usually happens quickly and you end up rushing the shot.

That's why it's called hunting. Good luck with the rest of the story. up
