Went out this morning since it was cool and I have to work tonight. Caught this guy chasing a doe at daylight. Had to wait a few minutes to have enough light to confirm width and make sure he looked old enough, he stopped for the last time. Not a monster you may find on a high acreage place, but not to bad for a small 15 acre property with high surrounding pressure. My wife called him a "1k buck" LOL, about what I spend feeding the damn things every year. Anyway figured I post with the rest of you fellas, may make some feel much better about their buck grin BTW, Dude stunk worse than probably the last 20 I have taken!

The last photo is what I have to hunt, you can see the small food plot (most of it) and the improved grases closer to the stand in the trees. try to do as much land management as conducive to a little bitty place.

Let a legal 8 go yesterday am, he had nice mass, but squat length on the g's

Thanks guy's!
I love to take a deer, but it has always been more "funner" and rewarding working the land for them, that is where the hrs and real expense come in. Planting trees and shrubs, managing the browse (In the buck photos, you can probably notice where I disc spring strips to encourage low growth and forbs, the deer love theses spots and they find the acorns quicker). I guess for me, it is the whole package deal, even on a small place. I pull quite a few deer onto this tiny place and will now let them have it for a "safe zone"

BTW, When we bought this place in 2004, solid trees! saw 2 does the 1st year, the more I manage the land, the better the deer use it, we regularly have 6-15 now in our yard up That's what really makes hunting fun for me.

Thanks again

I'm almost 99% sure he is the one I posted sometime back when he still had carpet on his antlers, then I was curious of age and iirc, the consensus was between 4.5-5.5? I will look and see if I still have the photo, I believe you replied to the thread with an age as well.

OK, I believe this is the photo, correct date as well. I am sure he is the one on the left and almost positive the other I let walk yesterday.

Here is a photo, do you think this is him 3 years ago?? Had a buck population problem that year..Edit, thought the date was wrong, but it was my better TC at the time, date is correct.

In the kill pics above his face and body shape he only looks 3. But if that is him in 2012(the beam and tines look the same as in 2014) then he would be a 4 yr old. That is what he looks like in 2014 TC pic also. If you have some straight on head shots of him the right browtine will show if it the buck in the 2014 TC pics and might even identify him in the previous years.

STX, that is a good idea, I was trying to use the light to get the photos. Wife dropped him off at the processor already, but I think I will get him mounted since all I have taken here has been "trashy ,weak bucks". His symmetry is what draws me to him.

When I get a chance, I will get a srt8 on photo, but I think 4-4.5 would be pretty accurate, may have the processor save the jaw for me on this one. Shoot, might as well get his opinion too, he should have seem many come through over the years as well, now I'm more curious.....

I believe I have a few more photos, I will look, I also haven't pulled my TC cards since Friday, so there may be more current photos.

Thanks for the thoughts up

STX, His body was bigger than the photos appear? I had already gutted him so he would start to cool prior, IDK?
