I finally bit the bullet and picked up a Chargemaster - WOW!!! Where have you been all my life?!?! I became a believer overnight that this is a "must-have" for extruded powder reloaders.

The owner's manual advised to never allow the unit to freeze as it may damage the load cell. My reloading bench is in my insulated (but not temperature-controlled) shop. Should I bring my Chargemaster in the house during the winter months? What are your experiences?

Not sure on that, but if it does have big temp swings then I would bring it inside. Also plug it in and turn it on for a while before you use it to let it warm up. Also look up the straw mod for it and it makes it trickle better.

I used to have my reloading bench in the garage, but I kept the chargemaster inside and took cases inside to charge then back out in a loading block to seat bullets. I wouldn't leave it out there, the temperature swings would scare me as to what they may do to the reliability/repeatability.

I think I'd take RCBS's advice to heart. Too nice a tool to screw up.

Mine has been in an insulated steel building for a couple of years that is not temperature controlled. I usually leave it turned on. If I find it off before loading I turn it on and let it warm up before using it. I have not had any problems, but yall have me rethinking where I store it during the winter.

My shop is an insulated steel building, but I am NE of Lubbock... so winters can get chilly. I guess I will haul it inside just to be safe. Thanks for the input.

Friendly tip fwiw - Use check weights periodically with the Chargemaster.

I found mine was swinging +/- 0.2 gr (total range of variance 0.4 grains).

A simple check weight is to use one bullet as a reference to check. It almost does not matter what the bullet weights as long as the same one is used every time for reference.

I now throw 0.2 below and finish on an old Redding beam that is sensitive to the single kernel, which tightened things up noticeably on paper.
