“If an Open Carry bill is passed by the House and Senate, I will sign it into law,” Abbott said the day after being elected. “If Open Carry is good enough for Massachusetts, it’s good enough for Texas.”
Gotta get through those two groups of representatives first.
But hey, if it passes I won't have to worry about printing.

Perry said the same thing but with the new people maybe it will make it to his desk.

It will never pass as long as Joe Straus is Speaker of the House.
Straus is anti-open carry, and will once again appoint a Liberal Democrat as Chairman of the committee in which an Open Carry bill will land (Homeland Security & Public Safety). If Straus once again appoints Joe Pickett ( D) of El Paso as Chairman, it will once again die on Calendars and will never reach Abbott's desk.

Agree about Strauss. Calendars is the most important post in Austin.

Well I'm sort of divided on the thing but as long as it is okay with most folks it's okay with me. As I said, as a kid this one guy in a local eatery always had a side arm- open carry, no one cared. My only worry was some sort of public backlash. In Colorado it is open carry without any troubles and in Denver there is a city ordinance against it- the rest of the state okay.

Are they proposing "un-licensed" or licensed open carry?
Upon us all, upon us all, a little rain must fall

Are they proposing "un-licensed" or licensed open carry? Licensed carry. Effectively, the law would permit CHL holders the choice of carrying open or concealed.
