Berger has come out with a new 6.5mm 130 grain AR Hybrid Tactical bullet for the AR-15 and AR-10 calibers. It will also work well in all your bolt guns in 260 Rem, 6.5 Creedmoor, 6.5x47, 6.5x284, and for the 6.5 Grendel. I will be loading these up in some 6.5x47 to play with. Let me know if anyone needs some.

What is the advantage?

These 130 Hybrid bullets have a higher BC than the 130 VLD. The hybrid has the advantage of the tangent ogive at the full diameter (so it doesn't have the seating depth issue like the VLD), with a secant ogive profile further forward (for the higher BC). What this means is it will tolerate a jump, and will shoot well at normal magazine length( like in an AR mag) and give you a higher BC in doing so. I have not run the numbers yet, but I plan to compare them to a 140 VLD and 140 hybrid to see if it gives an advantage to one or the other.

Alls I can say is that I used to run 130 VLDs 150 fps faster than 140's. The wind hold was the same. Lower BC, but MV to help make up for it.

JG...speed and BC I tell ya When you are talking that I assume you are referring to the 140 vld's and not the hybrid? I say that because I'm not sure a guy could get the 130vld speed needed out of the regular 6.5's to match what the 140 hybrid would do.

Yes. I was reffering 140 VLD vs. 130 VLD. No hybrid involved.

Yes, I knew guys running the 130's fast, and wore out 260 Rem barrels in 1100 to 1500 rounds.

Boys...wise man once told me "They make barrels while we are sleeping at nite...so shoot'em". I've taken that approach a bit. I will say at $800 a piece I do pucker a bit when I have one done I've had 3 done this year and really got me to thinking I probably should just buy a lathe and learn how to do it myself.

Seems like higher BC and taking away the length sensitivity would be a good reason to revamp the entire line.

Wow! I just bought 1k of 123gr Amax for my 6.5 cm AR! Wish I'd have known about it earlier...I finally gave up waiting on 130 gr VLDs

Be nice if they'd build that 195 gr 7mm and make it a hybrid.. Chad and I would have to reinvestigate the 7 Rem Mag vs 300 Win Mag at a mile.

I loaded up some 6.5 140gr Amax's today in the Weatherby Mag. Will shoot them tomorrow, see if they group as good as the VLD's.

I would be interested in getting some for my AR10.

I am waiting on that one as well. If it does come out it will make an awesome setup.

The 195 or 190 is back on the burner according to Litz and another big wig at Berger. I might have to do a revamp on the 7 mag in the safe.

The 180 aint nuthin to shake a stick at. And the good ole 7 Rem Mag will get it moving pretty darned fast. But as usual, when I have a choice of BC or MV, I'll take BC.

Mine won't get them going to fast with a 24" tube but I'm sure they will fly nicely.

You'll be north of 2900 with Retumbo and proper sized brass.

7mm High BC is HARD to beat !!!

Chad, how would these 6.5mm 130 grain AR Hybrid Tactical bullet compare to the 139 grain Scenars you loaded for me last year? If they are geared more to an AR-10 platform it sounds like a good way to go.

Working now, tech problem.

They are geared for the AR. The 130's will be going faster that the 139 Scenar, and have a better BC. So, for longer range shooting, it will shoot flatter and has less wind drift.
