With all the Vanilla extract talk on here I had to try it. I bought some vanilla beans and soaked them in a bottle of water for a few days. Put some on the bottom of my boots before I walked into the blind.
I had a few instances where deer walked right down the same path as me sniffing around. It definitely did not spook them, pretty cool!
Anyone else have any experience?

I tried it the first day of bow season on a place where I poured corn on the ground about 15yds from my ladder stand!!! Within 2hrs I had deer in to feed!!! I've used vanilla at other lease but it was the first time I used it at this lease I'm on now!!!

How much are you using and whats the proper way to use it? Can I just put a few drops on the ground or what? I typicaly hunt on foot, so I usually don't have the benefit of sitting at corn.

I usually carry a bucket of corn out with me and spread on the ground and then sprinkle vanilla on top!!! The times are about right but dates are different because I carry a bucket of corn every morning I hunt this stand but you get the idea!!! The 11th was the date I started hunting this stand in the morning!!! this: and then this happens:

Tried it the Friday before youth weekend to try and get some deer in close for bow...no success. Although the cows in the area may have spooked the deer that did get somewhat close. Had success hunting the next morning over the area but couldn't tell if they were hitting the vanilla corn because we stalked in from another area and werent sitting in the stand over that feeder.

I mixed some in with corn a couple weekends ago and me and my buddy both got a deer that night, they seemed to be liking it. We both arrowed our deer while they were eating the vanilla corn. We spread some out by hand.
I used it last weekend and had three deer turn their noses up at it, they preferred the feeder corn. It was still there the next afternoon too. So I'm not sure about it yet.

Last weekend of bow season, after all the talk I tried the extract mixed 1:3 with water. I had deer hit it and not the feeder corn the first two sits. Also had it cleaned out in the AM. Last weekend I tried it but nothing hit it so the jury is out. On the other hand it is cheap enough and doesn't seem to spook them at all so why not?

Well I put some out Friday. I put some on corn and probably 10oz on and around the base of an Oak tree. I definitely had some of the normal older does get spooky, but the majority of them checked it out. I think the smell is so close to acorn, that is the draw (smell an acorn scented ""wafer"") Most of the young deer would got str8 to the trunck of the tree, then search around the base, I assume looking for acorns, they also ate the scented corn.
The small bucks I saw, didn't seem phased one way or the other. the 2 legal bucks I have seen didnt give 2 hoots about anything but travel.
