I had more steel to get, but told them we'd stop with the load of beam. My only limiting factor was the rear tires on the truck. Think I'll go dually on the next truck in many years. I'm just about to hit 100K on this one, so I've just got it broke in good.

Brand new beam was going to be $10.80 per foot, and was lighter weight. This was heavier 10" 23#, and 8" 18#. Gave $6.67/ foot for the 10", and $5.50 for the 8". I got the time to do a little cutting and grinding to clean them up with a 40% savings on the steel.

And yeah, wish I had enough left over to build a bridge with. I will have to go back and get some more some day for that project.

Heck yeah, used I-beam I have no reservations using, tough as nails and hard to screw up, you got a hell of a deal which frees up cash for other things up I used to buy used 8" for building cattle guards, not a thing wrong with saving a few dollars...

Got that right!, when you start building, that will probably take up any extra free time, even if it is just "mental time", If you where closer, I'd give you a hand a few days.

I'd take it too.

My crew at the FD did tons of training this year, and got all our inspections done. The Captain said we're gonna lay low the rest of December and all of January. I'll need it to hopefully take a break every third day. Watch we'll have several ripping structure fires in January and be packing up wet hose and tools in 30 degree weather. barf

Yeah, that is a list, but I bet the shooting part is a tad more relaxing for you. Once you get the slab for the shop poured, I think that's when you will feel the pressure LOL will be sitting there begging to get welded up.

The Fannin County Co-Op crew that came out Friday was bad to the bone! After I called their boss and told him it was dry enough, that morning. They came out and got after it. Drilled three holes, set three poles, ran most of the line, two guy wires, transformer installed and wired into a T-pole I pulled up while they were there. They did all this in about two hours. Gonna have it all hooked up Monday or Tuesday. No more running the Bobcat welder just to use a grinder cleaning up the I-beam. woot

Yessir. I've had GCEC for 13 years, in Melissa. They have been outstanding to work with! Looks like my new one in Fannin County is just as good.

They got the forms started, and all the piers for the main shop drilled and filled with crete.

Prop it up one day. An elderly man that lived on the property 65 years ago told me the barn was there quite a while before he was. It needs work, but it has grown on me, so I would like to preserve it.
