Looks good Jason. How do you like it, wish you did something different?

I love it, it works very, very well!

Only thing I wish I had done different is make each end sliding doors. They are a pain to frame for, and even more of a pain to sheet, but they work so smoothly! And it is nice to be able to adjust how much air flow you want. Of course this time of year you run each end wide open, unless it starts blowing the argon away from the MIG nozzle.

Had I had the money to build a full gantry, instead of just a trolley beam, I would have. But that would've added up to lots more I-beam, and lots more hardware. I couldn't afford it. The trolley beam does get used almost every day, though.

I have also wanted a shop with a full gantry to use anywhere sure would be nice, you are right about the cost thought it sure does make it expensive. How did you frame the sliding doors, they look great. I have seen some on shops and whoever built them didn't quite understand how to do it because they never did work smooth.

From the ground up, frame.

-Base angle on the slab to screw the bottom of the lower sheets to.
-Base angle to screw the lower sheets to.
-Square tubing to bolt the track to.
-Purlin to screw the bottom of the upper sheets to.
-Base angle to screw the top of the upper sheets to.

Bottom sheets go up just behind the track and stop, flat line.
Bolt the track through the sheet, and through the square tubing.
Trim over the track to the purlin, with rivets.
Screw the upper sheets over the trim, and up to the roof line.

It's layered so it can't leak into the wall.

Along with the trolleys, I have a gate vee wheel on the side of the slab, outside. The bottom of the door can't get lifted away from the building, anywhere in its' travel. There's also cams on each doorway column to pull the door into the building when opened.

What main plan or drawing did you go from? Mueller?

How tall is your top plate before starting your rafters? 4/12?

What kind of slab? How deep are your beams ? Main slab depth? Patron concrete depth? How many and how deep the piers?

Approx how many yards of concrete?

That's my design, not Mueller's.

Side walls are 16' from concrete to to the top of the eave strut. 4:12, yes, my favorite pitch.

Beams are 12" wide, and 24" deep. They are on the perimeter, and cut across the field, east to west, from the two middle columns to the other side's middle columns.

5" thick slab.

Under each column, and four down the center of the shop, are 18" diameter by 12' deep piers. So 12 piers total.

I have no idea how many yards of concrete, trucks came and went for 5 hours.

Come on out. I do it very often, all you can hear is the mocking birds. I've even managed to keep the loud mouth crows away because they disturb the peace.
