I had to go trick or treating with my 2 girls and then unclogging a sink drain before finally heading out Friday night. I pulled into the lease a little after 1am Saturday morning with the truck dispay reading 39 degrees.

Got most of the stuff unloaded and hit the sack for a few hours before it was time to get ready. Since I had already gotten my buck for the year on my lease I was after some hogs or some predators on this trip.

The alarm goes off and it's time to get the general season started. I start hearing atv's firing up and then one by one they start heading out. I get to my stand and get ready for a very cold opening morning.

I had a few deer moving through with some chasing from the young bucks. After watching a few deer move throughout the morning I noticed the deer running off from one of my feeders. I quickly find a coyote running in the clearing and checking out a pig carcass that I had placed in the clearing last weekend in hopes of luring in some predators.

I quickly get moved into position and find him in my crosshairs. He picks up a leg piece and starts to trot off. I follow him and send a round his way. After the shot I can't see anything as there is some tall grass where he was standing. After a few minutes I spot movement in the brush and a coyote sticks its head out. Thinking I might have missed I quickly get ready again. The coyote goes back into the brush and circles towards me and comes out in front of me and starts trotting down the clearing. I shoot and miss. The coyote runs off and circles in the clearing before stopping. I quickly send another one and drop him.

I give it a few minutes to see if anything else happens to come out and round out the morning hunt. I get down and go to the coyote I can see down in the clearing. I then go to where I thought I shot the first one and there he lays. My first 2 coyotes are down grin

After getting back to camp another lease and forum member had shot a really big sow. We all gathered for our opening weekend luncheon. After everyone visiting for a few hours it is time to head back out.

I managed to get another coyote during the evening hunt and the same guy that got the sow that morning ended up taking a very large boar at dark. My pics don't do him justice but I am sure he will post some better ones when he gets back.

This morning I had a very good hunt with several bucks coming through checking and running any does they could find. I did manage to snap this pic of the morning sunrise the windy Sunday morning.

I got back to camp to find another lease and forum member had taken a nice mature 8 pt to take out of the herd.

I hope everyone else had a great opening weekend. cheers
