Yea I could go for it! Still saving my pennies for a P210 though...my 1911 shelf is full at the moment.

I wonder if the feel outweighs the looks of those grips. I like everything BUT the grips.

Nice pistol! I'd rather it chambered in 9mm for capacity reasons. The price is pretty good too.

The way the grips form a magwell is interesting. Sure looks funky though.

No joke. Kimber is a bit better than coors in my opinion, but they do not deserve the uber high praise they often get. You can spend a lot less on a Kimber, or you can spend a lot less on other brands and get a just as good if not better pistol.

My wife carries a kimber ultra CDP 9mm. Well, she has one, whether she carries it or not is another question. It's a nice gun, no doubt. But there are other great options as well.

You guys really don't appreciate quality handguns! Seriously I've owned two Sigs, a 380 and a 1911 and compared to my Kimber they simply couldn't compare as far as accuracy. The biggest difference was the trigger. I'm not sure why the hate on Kimber but of all my handguns it's hands down the most accurate.

Correct me if I'm wrong about this, but I believe at one time Kimbers were definitely worth the money. However, I think they tried to ramp production and rather than keep the quality up they cut some corners and used cheaper (MIM) parts. The guns made during that stretch developed a reputation for problems. I don't know if that has been corrected to everyone's liking or not, and I don't know the true extent of the problem. Everyone's a critic/expert and I suspect the truth is at least somewhat overblown.

My BIL has a Stainless II that's about 10 years old, maybe a little older, and I can tell you that that thing shoots like a dream and we've never had a problem with it in over 1000 rounds.

I don't think Kimbers are bad guns at all (for the most part). Like I said, my wife has/carries one. But, in the world of 1911s, they aren't all that special. There are, at this point, a lot of quality 1911s on the market in comparable or better price ranges than most Kimbers. Kimber is one among many, and often over-priced and over-esteemed.

Everybody has opinions, everybody has preferences. If someone wants a Kimber, by all means buy one; I'm sure it will serve you well.

And yes, Kimber went through a stint where they tried to use an external extractor that was a disaster, if I understand correctly.

As far as cutting corners by using MIM parts (etc), I'm not certain about that one. I do think it is accurate that they previously manufactured a more quality pistol than they do now (hand fitting, etc) in the interest of increasing production... but, there's money to be made and all that, and they still put together a decent pistol.

Has Sig ever run into problems with the external extractors?

Never understood why people called a Sig with an external extractor a 1911. Might as well call Remington 700 a Mauser or a 1903.

Not that I know of... Sig must have gotten it straightened out or what not.
