I've seen this question come up a few times but I wanted to get your opinions. I figured this is more of a waterfowl thing, I don't want to get busted for baiting while duck hunting. Pigs have overrun the property I duck hunt on. The lake has gotten very low due to little rain fall, so I have taken up hunting pigs till the duck hunting picks up. I want to put corn out for the pigs to actually hunt them cause I usually end up walking into them while on the property, but having corn around where you duck hunt is a major NO NO. My lab even got into it with a 200lb boar I am still after, good thing she didn't know what a pig was and was not hurt. My question, is there a way to bait the pigs with corn and not have any chance of getting in trouble by the gamewarden while I am duck hunting? Is there a specific distance you have to be away from the baited area or any way of getting around the situation.

I would bait with something other than corn or grain. ALL grain must be removed for 10 days before it is legal to hunt waterfowl. I have seen spoiled fruit used for hogs before. You may be able to get that free from your local grocery store.

You may be able to get that free from your local grocery store. Apples work great, or try to go now on a pumpkin farm and see if theur have any leftovers now that halloween is over. They love pumpkins. Smash a few with a sledge hammer and you ahould be in business. Will attract millions of ants though. Most pigs love: cooked broccoli, pitted apricots, cucumbers, dark green lettuce, cooked potatoes, beets, grapes, pumpkins, all squashes, zucchini, snow peas, spinach, yams, kale, tomatoes, chard, carrots, pears, apples, berries, oranges, grapefruit, melons, pitted cherries, pitted peaches.

I made a pig pipe and wanted to see if it actually works and about a year ago I got really sick with a blood disease and am on some meds that really take it out of me. I'm not going to let it stop me from hunting but after walking around the property I am wiped out. I'l have to see what I can get as far as what was said to use.

A coworker of mine uses some combination of KoolAid & flour. I can't remember the recipe but he swears by it. Guy kills & traps a lotta critters
Cigarettes are like hamsters. Perfectly harmless til you put it in your mouth & light it on fire

I don't know if this would be the same as baiting with corn but you could sour it. By souring it I mean putting beer in the corn with yeast and sugar and waiting for a week. I wouldn't think the ducks would eat that at all!
You may all go to hell and I will go to Texas! -Davy Crocket This is duck hunting...shirts and shoes are optional

I wouldn't use soured corn. The fact that it is corn or grain would be considered baiting, regardless if it is soured or not.

Use some commercial syrup stuff or jello packets or save all your good scraps from the week

Just keep it well above the water line and you'll be fine. You can get the pigs to easily come to the corn wherever you put it out. Use common sense and you're fine
