Just FYI
Flight to South Africa - 1750 Zebra kill fee - 1500 Shipping zebra back - 750 Taxidermy - 1000
You can literally fly to Africa, shoot one, get it back and mounted (shoulder or rug) for under the average 5k cost in the states

But your point is good even if the numbers are a tad off. It should also be noted that you could also pick up a free case of some exotic disease as well. We really can't compete in that arena.... Yet.

I call the Texas average $5-6,000 = $5,500 So $5,250 is below average Plus all my numbers are a touch high bc I truest have no idea what it cost to ship back a single hide. Normally shipments/crates are full of 5-15 animals. My 1300 animal safari was 2750 for taxidermy prep and unknown on shipping.

I wanted to go on a zebra hunt not long ago and did a lot of calling. Average price I found was around $4500-5,500

I thought when you said "it's under the average of 5,000" you actually meant it was under the average of 5,000. Just jerkin your chain a little. Obviously nitpicking.

I shot my Stallion for 4k at Laguna Vista 3 1/2 years back.
One thing I regret though is not eating my zebra. Everyone says it's fantastic but one guy I once knew in the Midwest who had a put and take operation said that zebras are unhealthy to eat because he said they have worms all under their skin but I saw that as him as another way of saying not to eat his zebras since they would be fresh off the dart...sort of instilled it in my head when I was a wee one with my dad and didn't know any better.
Whatever.....
