Wasn't able to make it to the lease this weekend due to daughter select softball tourney and a wedding we had to attend.. Just wondering how was the deer hunting this weekend? I'm on a lease about 30 miles west of Ozona off of Howard Draw road..

I'm a little south of you, probably 60 miles south of I-10 as the crow flies, in Val Verde County. Our cameras show activity at feeders to be less than normal, with mostly young bucks and does in the daytime, mature bucks visiting feeders about once a week in the middle of the night. We have a lot of oaks with tons of acorns and it looks like deer city under them. We hunted feeders anyway, and between two of us, we saw over 20 different bucks and a handful of does. Only two bucks with any age to them. I was surprised we saw that many. Overall deer movement was better than I expected, given the acorn situation.

I expect to see more activity from mature bucks near the end of the month.

If ducks had horns I'd probably be a duck hunter.
I am a horrible deer hunter. Probably the worst. Ever.

I hunt about 20 miles northwest of Ozona. Just had does and small bucks at my feeder. They're not even close to rutting yet. Sat morning it was 37 and calm. About 10am the wind picked up and has been blowing hard since.
