Below is a picture of my set up. I only have 6 teal decoys right now (3 hens and 3 drajes) and 1 Mojo Teal. It seemed to do ok over the weekend for not many birds flying. What are your thoughts for this small number of decoys?

Thanks guys!

it'll work better than you think. If you have mallard hens (or pretty much any other hens) you can throw those in the mix.

Yes because 6 decoys is so visual on big water for early season migrators

I know of a guy who regularly hunts big water such as ray bob with 10 dozen decoys and no mojo.
He was gonna add a couple dozen more.

With work the afternoons are the only time I have to go right now. Just bought a house so the weekends are spend on finishing up the small projects to make the wife happy.

I know afternoons till dark is not the ideal, but I work with what I got

I know you are supposed to have the wind at your back instead of in your face, but there is no hunting on the other side of the lake.. Day two I walked further and found a nice spot in a large cove that can still be seen from the majority of the lake. I spooked out a group of 4 Pintails, one of the drakes looks beautiful but they were too far to shoot at when I spooked them.

I set up there as the wind was a lot calmer, and had two come in throughout the afternoon (was able to get both of them)

JT, what has worked for me is to leave the mojo in the "runway" between some decoys. On big water I go with at least 2doz with feeders on the upwind side of the spread, leave about 20 yds of open water with the mojo in the middle, then another dozen or so down wind 20 yards from the mojo. I like having a big slice of open water where my shooting zone is...

If you're using teal decoys, another thing you want to remember is that they are normally feeding in the very shallow water- I see you had them set out a ways. Put them closer together right on the shoreline. You need to splurge and get a few more decoys, at least a dozen so you can thicken it up a little more, especially once the bigger migrations start to occur (if ever). It is very difficult to bring in ducks over decoys when there are piles of live birds rafting up everywhere.

As far as the wind, I've had much more success quartering downwind than with it straight at my back... Gives the birds a little less of a look at me.

Wasn't born in Texas, but I got there as fast as I could.

Not "till dark"... You must end your hunt at sunset to be legal. It is not dark at sunset- which was 5:39pm yesterday.
