This is my good friends daughter and the buck she arrowed Saturday evening at our lease.

Early Saturday before the feeder went off deer started filtering in and pretty soon she had a party of little bucks and doe all around her. Shortly this target buck came in dogging a doe. He milled in and around all the other deer and then squared up a mere 12 yards right underneath the lock on stand. She knew she was going to shoot this buck so a little case of buck fever set in as the heart started pounding. She drew and anchored and he moved slightly causing her to have to hold her draw for almost 45 seconds. A couple of steps later and she let the arrow fly. A good hit and the buck crashed through a cedar tree to the right of the set

She texted her dad and he got over to the tree quickly. They followed blood for about 35 yards and it thinned out so instead of pushing they backed out and went back to the cabin to give him plenty of time. Went back a few hours later and found him within 10 minutes as he had only made it 60 yards from the point of the shot.

Bow hunting isn’t just "something to" do for her…she works at it. Practices shooting religiously (and shoots damn good), pays attention to the wind and scent control on every sit and has absolutely shown great patience in passing up young bucks and waiting on the right buck and more importantly the right shot before hitting the release. Congrats Carly!!

And of course....she had to have a selfie LOL!

I'm so glad to see so many youngsters hunting. Congratulations to this young lady for getting a great looking deer.
