dude, I know you are a mile up the road but did you know when the wind is out of the north, I can hear the drone of your generator like it was sitting outside my stand?
Why do you run this during hunting times anyway?

I picture it as a 1970 model with a lawn mower engine running straight pipes that glow cherry red at night, but I know you have to be able to power your coffee grinder and cappuccino machines

I am at my property all year, two to three times per week. I can always tell when hunting season is here as the noise level goes up.
I wished I could afford to buy up the property around me.

That, along with people talking loud, car doors slamming, dogs barking, even shots fired waaaaay before daylight. You always knew it was opening day, and the deer knew it also.

Once i learned that i didn't "NEED" to kill something, and that if i did kill something all the fun stopped and work began, i was a much better hunter.

Alamo Springs Cafe was directly upwind and is in line with my feeder. Sounded like a band was inside the feeder - a little dinner music.

I have a little Honda generator that I rarely use. I'm self conscious about the noise even that thing makes, and it's supposed to be the quietest.

We turn our irritgation well on you can year that baby sing for miles around.

240 hp diesel turning 2200 RPMs makes a bit of racket, but the deer don't mind one bit

For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.

it could be an irrigation pump. Whatever it is I only hear it up to and during hunting season.

I never hear it all spring or summer and I'm there alot

The place I hunt in Wyoming is the city limit. That elk bull I shot this year was on a hill that overlooks the football stadium. If we are hunting Friday afternoons, we can hear the announcer of the football game and keep track of the score without actually being there. That being said, the game has gotten used to it but it takes away the "great outdoors" feeling we all want while hunting.

And now we know why the middle of the week is the best time to hunt because the deer just seem to know everyone has gone home.

how about this one? It sound like some one was doing some constant blasting from about 9:30 to about dark. I would hear about five or six load blasts then some heavy equipment moving stuff. My boy looked at me and asked what it was. I told maybe the are digging a well or blasting at the mine or something. He swore they were killing a dinosaur because you could hear the blast then a load roar like jurrassic park dinosaurs, heavy equipment I guess. confused2

Locals have known this for some time. Particularly that the lessees are gone. Opens all sorts of new hunting opportunities.

To be determined

My opening day chuckle always comes from the ones who start practice shooting around 10am. In many cases, they're the same ones responsible for those two or three shot groups you heard earlier that left a deer running into the next county. That shot or two a week or two earlier just to "check their zero" was evidently not enough.

Lol, I have an oil pumping transfer station 400 yards away from me. Talk about lulling you to sleep. Now that's some noise!
