I'm on the wise/jack line just inside jack county. Just saw either one 4 point that circled back and came out twice, or 2 4 points. Couldn't tell if it was the same deer. Not a shooter, but a promising sign.

We didn't have a hunt booked in Bosque, so I'm in my blind. I am on the jack/wise line too, seen a buck over the fence at 4. And seen a yote at 4:15.

Saw a few, they are still on acorns pretty good, pick at the corn. This evening they where in the food plot pretty good too. Small 3 pnt chasing and that was the extent of it.

I hunted a right of way cut through an oak patch. Acorns everywhere and corn pilled up under feeders. Will be that way awhile I think.

I am on the Jack side south of 380 and no deer.
Dove and ducks, but that was all.

KennyLee, same thing in SW Young county, corn piling under feeders, very few deer pics at feeders, lots/lots of greenery in pasture and lots of dropped acorns under oak trees. Also have no strong indication of rut happening. Think we need some wet/cold temps to really jumpstart things. With such a mild Fall so far, may push the rut an extra week or so, IMO.

DQ, I agree.
I've seen threads about chasing in Denton, Hood, and Erath. However, I saw 4 different groups of does from my stand and not a single buck paying attention to them. Only two bucks I saw were young and running together. Had mature bucks at the feeders up until 10 days ago, but not a single one since (at least looking at pics).
I think they've all changed their patterns to eat the acorns rather than moving off to start the pre-rut.

Kenny, I had a 3 point chas'in like a sob,(posted earlier above). My daughter almost hit a buck going to work Friday morning on old Agnes Rd. He was chasing a doe across the road the daughter said.
We also seem to have 3x's the acorns this year and a few areas of Wise county had a few late summer rains, just plain food everywhere. Deer this morning walked right through the food plot, past the feeder to the bedding area, this after I watched them under oaks brush for about 30 minutes. I assume after acorns.

I also have found 5 scrapes that are getting worked pretty hard, pulled cards Friday and saw 2 of them had good urine stains.

I hate to say it, but I'm less excited about this year than I have been in a long time. The two bucks I let walk last year to "grow" both declined dramatically. One other I never got a shot at hasn't been on cam since Sept.
I know there are still some out there, but with kids activities and work I just won't be able to hunt as much this year, so I'm gonna have to be a bit lazy about it and wait until they are hitting feeders again. I'll sneak out for a hunt or two per week, but I don't have high expectations.
Of course, I've had high expectations most years and have pulled the trigger on a buck twice on my place in the last 12 years, so maybe this "new" approach will produce some results.
Likely will take a doe this week sometime, just didn't feel like cleaning one this morning.

Yeah, I remember you let a big 6 or something walk last year.
The acorn crop is heavier than I've seen in a few years, (even though they are small this year). Everywhere I walk, it's "crunch crunch crunch"

That big 6 is now a massive 6. If I see him, he's toast. Have a few of his offspring as well. Shouldn't have let him walk.

Yeah, I'd think the smaller bucks are possibly rutting now, don't think the bigger boys are all the way there yet, maybe in another week or so..

I hunt on the Wise Montague County line. The doe are definitely not interested in corn. However I do have some 2 & 3 yr old bucks that ate still hitting feeders on a regular basis. I think they feel the rut coming on and are storing up for it. The young ones think it is starting I have seen atleast one every hunt this weekend that were running hard chasing a doe.
