Unbelievable, answer to some prayer and a gift given to us today. Had some cows hanging out by the food plot this am, and saw a deer under the feeder early before light, by light it was obvious he was a non-legal buck. Right at first light had another line deer coming in and saw he was a spike, exactly what we were after for my daughter. As she had her gun up in the stand waiting for a shot I saw another deer poking out, my son said it was the 9 pt he was after. Decisions decisions...it was daughters first deer so she got first shot. Made my son mad, but I told him if things work out perfectly she would drop her spike and the 9 or would still be there and he could shoot it.

Fast forward another 30-40 minutes and some come and go Houdini acts by the deer, but we had the spike and the 9 pt in the food plot after cows walked off. Both guns up and I am just hoping and praying this works out. My daughter is begging to shoot and I tell her wait for the broadside shot...she got it, and took the shot. As he is dropped and doing the death spiral, I see the 9 start running off but he slows so I yell. It took two to get him stopped but as soon as I did I hear the gun ring and the 9 lurches. He didn't drop right there but he wasn't far off. He went no more than 60 yards and we found him piled up.

My daughter was shaking, my son was shaking, and I was shaking. Unbelievable morning and start to the deer season.

First deer for her, she isn't happy or anything is she?

His biggest buck to date. This guy was scraping and rubbing all morning. Once the cows moved off he was all about eating
