Went out to the ranch yesterday to do a little bow hunting; this morning after this morningís hunt I decided I was going to make ME a knife a knife that would make me happy. Iíve made over a 1000 knives in my knife making days and today I had something in mind but not exactly sure what I wanted. This is what I came up with this afternoon.
This is a rough guestament of what I wanted but not completely sure until I felt it in my hand.
The final profile; I just kept taking off the steel I didnít want, this made me happy.
After heat treat; edge quenched and tempered. Perfect blance.
A better shot of the quench line; I was going to acid etch it, but itís mine and I know itís there. The edge is 60rc. RAZOR sharp. Should skin and quarter several deer without having to sharpen it. Will test it this year on deer and hogs.
TADA; not bad for an afternoons work, I donít feel bad knowing I have customers waiting on knives but I did leave the ranch early. Threw on some curly stripped maple, with 5/16 corby bolts, red liners. Iíll add more coast of finish the next few days and make the sheath.
I'll be adding this to my production line. This will be Model #108
