Need to replace an ancient marlin scope. What's a good low power low light transition scope without killing the wallet. I won't shoot over 100 yards. But do hog hunt in low light fairly often.

I always had a fixed 4 power on my old Marlin. Your max range under ideal conditions is probably 250 yds, if you are good. If you are just Ok, then 150 yds is your range. Of course, you may rather have a variable. The 1.75-5 scope I once had was also great on a lever gun.

Guess it all depends on what your doing with it. I know several people who hunt 100-150 yard feeders with a scoped 30-30 and shoot for the neck. I want more than a 4x scope for that.

I had a Vortex Viper 2x7 on my 336 but just put a Hawke Endurance 2x7 with the 30-30 IR on it. I'm happy.

Don’t roll those bloodshot eyes at me.

My feeder is 107 yards and max shot maybe 125. I'm good but not great with this gun yet.
