I'm looking to buy a 38 special. It's my favorite round to shoot for a day of plinking reloads. I have a couple of 357's but I'm looking for a 38 specifically for my 38 reloads. I'm not particular about finish but I definitely want a 4" barrel, no more, no less. Suggestions?

Just shoot them out of your 357's. Unless of course you just want a new revolver.

find a lightly used S&W model 10. They put the bullet wherever you put the front sight.

Find a SW Model 10 or 15, love the K frame action for a 38. I prefer to run 38's out of my 357's though.

Ruger Speed Six...... This is same as Security Six except with set sights. These were the forerunners to the present GP100. Models were available specifically for 38 Special, built strong enough for any P+ rounds, action is easy to work on by average person with some basic skills.

S&W Model 64...... only available in 38 special and stainless.

Both are available in 4" barrel.

If you are in my area (Lake Texoma) I have both the above models and you can try them side by side.

I picked up a S&W 64 in excellent condition for about $300. It was an NYPD surplus gun with a bobbed hammer. The trigger pull is about 8lb but very smooth. These S&Ws are out there for a very reasonable price. If you're in the Houston area drop me a line and you can try mine out.
