I had a teacher back in school that always used a 22LR to hunt hogs with. I thought he was crazy but he showed me proof that thats what he did. He actualy video taped him killin hogs with a 22 all head shots in the ear or eye and brought them up to class that monday (he was a shop teacher) to prove me wrong. Does or has anyone else done that or was he just a one of a kind?
I eat everything I kill and I am to fat to be a bad hunter.

Not my go to round but dang sure effective. God only knows how many deer have been poached with .22's I've killed several hogs with a .22....like any other round, range & shot placement.

Sure it will work. But not optimal. We have killed a big boar with a 22 mag just by chance, though.

usually these are trapped hogs. shot at short distance. not free ranging hogs. under short range circumstances on a trapped pig...there is no hog that a good head shot with a .22lr won't kill.
I've shot some free ranging ones with a .22lr and .22mag both. mostly smaller pigs. and shorter distances.
.22 is a mean little bullet though. not my go to gun of choice, but dont' under-estimate it.

There are a lot better options for hog hunting than a 22lr.

Just not ethical, but if I was a land owner and they just cost me money (or worse: work ) , I might not care if 22lr is all I have. I'm confident I could be accurate enough with my 22lr for an ear shot on a slow mover who is not spooked at 50 yards. Not something I would plan to do though, .223 now that's good medicine.

Certainly there are better options to put a pig down with, but yes, a 22 LR in the right spot will put down all the same. Why would it not be ethical? An immediate drop to it's death seems pretty ethical to me.
