It's time to plan round 2. This hunt is open to anyone wanting to join me for the 2nd rifle elk season in Colorado. We will hunt Unit 71, in the Taylor Mesa area, between Dolores and Rico. It's an OTC hunt.

We just finished up the first go round, and we had a good hunt. No bulls were harmed in the process, but we learned the area and had a great time. I have a great deal of confidence going into this hunt next year. We encountered several legal bulls, we just didn't shoot one for one reason or another.

We have a good area to camp and hunt, now. This last trip was a learning and proving experience. We broke in a couple of new elk hunters. Hopefully we can do that again.

If you want to be a part of this hunt, just say so. There's no need to commit just yet. Several people dropped out last time as the hunt got closer, and that's fine. Life happens. Hopefully some of those guys can make it this time. We will discuss the hunt, answer questions, and have a year to make this happen.

It'll be a good time. It's a great way for new guys to get started, but anyone is welcome. I'm still not fully recovered from the last hunt, but let the next round of games begin.

Good deal. I need to look into what units and hunts I can put in for that won't interfere with this hunt. What unit you applying for?

Creekrunner and Shawheel made it. I'm hoping we get some of the original group to return, but I think some already have plans next year.

I'm all over this! I have been reading your post from last year and so wish I had been home in time to go. I work offshore, but will save the date for next year for sure. I see some of you talking about putting in for NM draw hunts, I will look into that. Did you guys not have deer tags on this trip to CO? I have most of the camping gear already and a Ford Excursion that can haul quite a bit. Thank you very much for putting this together Sneaky.

Depending on some dates at work, I'm in. I should know for sure around June. If I can't make 2nd rifle season, I may try to put together a group for a later OTC season.

This year's hunt was a great learning experience. Now we just need to connect the dots and bag some bulls!

No deer tags. That's a draw, and I didn't put in. A few of us had bear tags, but we never saw one.

Looking forward to hunting with an offshore guy.
