Had a pop in inspection today, joys of fun. All good but has to come back tomorrow and explain new requirements for marking Horizon firearms on all barrels as the manufacture. So now the barrels have to say caliber then Horizon Firearms College Station, TX what a pain

Not sure but they were snappy about it. Working with Stiller to put it on our actions but takes 4 months to get filed for someone else to mark it. So I am looking at buying an engraver or laser marker that will do .003 depth. Just a colossal pain in the butt. Got me on five 4473s where I had the not put the date in 21A even though the date is on the paper 4 other spots. And I keep 3 books, now I guess they have moved back to one book so Going through that again.

OH one more thing I did not know I sold a personal gun and we did a 4473 they had a log where I called it in but it was not in my stack (did not know they log every time you call them) I had it in my personal stack, said since i called it in gun has to be transferred back to my book then out to the customer. This is the 4th agent I have messed with and they all have different opinions. This guy was nice enough but did not know guns. Had some model 7 actions did not know they were even made by remington, was a little snooty that they only said "model seven" on the action and In my book I had the manufacture down as Remington but that was not stamped on the action. What a joke

Yep, manufacturers must have their business name and location on the gun. Nothing new there. where people get in trouble on this is in determining manufacturer from gunsmith. A general gunsmith rebarraling and restocking a REM 700 doesn't have to do this. A type 07 Manufacturer rebarralling and stocking a REM 700 does...or so I think.
My personal beliefs are you arent a manufacturer unless you are making the actions, ATF sees differently.
The multiple book thing is interesting. I had my interview a few months back, the agent preferred multiple log books over a single.

If they are logging in when calls are made for background checks, obviously they are keeping tabs on gun owners. The govt is the only business that employees can be colossal failures and not get fired.

I've had my SBR's engraved by Grey Laser Engraving in San antonio. Does a perfect job. Could you get the actions shipped from stiller to grey for your markings then to you? Save you some time and effort.

If they are logging in when calls are made for background checks, obviously they are keeping tabs on gun owners. Indeed. And they have done this for years.

Under state law in most states for commercial and product liability purposes, assembling and turning out the finished product constitutes a manufacturer, so federal law is aligned with the law of most states.
