I got my thunder beast suppressor and took it out over the weekend. I was disappointed with subsonic ammo through this thing has anyone else had these issues?

What caliber? My Thunder Beast definitely wasn't what the hype led me to believe.

I've seen two of these get launched down range from separating at the muzzle end. They run very thin walls.
But what specifically was disappointing about the sub ammo with it?

I fired 1 factory subsonic 308 and it was as loud as a .22. I am going to take my chronograph this weekend and shoot some of my hand loads that are subsonic and see if they are any better. I also have a intergral 308 by johns guns in a fn 308 patrol bolt action and it is way quiter. I knew the can would be a little louder, but not that much.

Did you hear a crack from the bullet breaking the sound barrier?

Not sure going to test more this weekend, if I find out it is a ammo issue and not a can issue I will be sure to clarify.

What rifle are you shooting this out of, and how long is the barrel?

They aren't the quietest cans but have earned a great rep for accuracy and repeat-ability for consistent zero.

Hmm I run a YHM Phantom and shoot the 220 308 subs from chad and they are movie quiet, just don't cycle my AR308, which I knew going in. Since it doesn't cycle the gun the loudest part is the bullet hitting the back stop. Pretty amusing I do say so myself. Might be that the ammo isn't true subsonics and is breaking the sound barrier still.

Here is a Harvester (out testing with the Silencer Shop guys) shooting sub 308 out of a 16" bolt gun.. It is high on the giggle factor.. My Templar Archangel sounds the same.. I am going to run some of Chad's (Dallas Reloading Supplies) 308 subs and hope to whack a doe on video this weekend

is it (the harvester) a 5/8 x 24 thread? There are three available mounts, each with a different thread pattern.

You can change the insert in the harvester for 5/8×24, 1/2×28, 18×1, 9/16×24 RH, 1/2x32, or 7/16x28. You choose one of the first 4 to come with the harvester. Then extra thread inserts are around $70-80 each.

I have found out it was operator error. I was super sonic in my reloads. My intregal johns guns .308 pbr suppressor shoots 8.6 grns trail boss around 1050 fps. My thunderbeast mounted on the savage only takes 7.0 grns on a 110 grn bullet. I am very happy and think the thunder beast is as quite as my John's Guns intergral 308 suppressor. I would recommend the thunder beast to everyone.
