Was going to tell you guy's I whipped this together with a 110 volt wire welder but figured the BS flags would fly fast and furious.

Built this fence and gate last weekend with my new good friend Munoz from this forum. Took four long hot evenings to get knocked out but it came out great. 2 3/8's in drill stem. 8ft centers in concrete. 10 ft gate header. 48 inch Redbrand horse wire and a coat of "tractor supply green" Sherwin Williams baddazz all-in-one exterior paint and primer.

Many thanks again to Munoz for donating his time and welder. And also to GUTIT for hauling in the drill stem for me. cheers

BTW... all maint work and projects on my place is for a 501-c3 non-profit. So if any of you ner-do-wells (or family or friends) ever needs community service hours or an Eagle Scout project, be sure to hit me up. I can ALWAYS use the help.

102 degrees and digging post holes the first day almost did me in. About 4 hours into the project the world started spinning and I dang near did a face plant.

I know when I was young, I didn't like to hear the warnings, but heat stroke is real! I think the heat gets worse the older you get.

BTW, did you dig by hand, or use an auger, then clean with a digger? As dry as it is at our place, I could imagine digging right now, and I have several small projects to get done blush

Ground at my place is both dry and rocky. Dug as far as I could with my 3pt auger, but the bits were worn plum smooth towards the end and had to hand dig the last two holes. In a number of places I could only get about a foot (or less) down before I hit rock. Those spots I had to break out a pry-bar, sledge and hand held post hole digger to finish off. Not a chore I want to tackle again anytime in the near future.

Man, no kidding. I have a jackhammer I use now on rock when I can. Dug to many a holes using the bar. Its a workout even in good temps.

You got it done and thats the main thing, looks good and should serve you well for some time.

I've built miles and miles of that kind of fence. It is awesome fence and I have it around my place at home. It is labor intensive though. Fine job.

I don't mind helping out if you aren't too far from the dfw area. Let me know.
