Are you using Lithium batteries ? Yes energizers. I had the delay set to 1 second with multiple triggers and a high IR flash intensity for a while just to test it. Too many pictures on those settings, so now I have it on a 5 minute delay with 1 trigger and a medium flash intensity when I am not at the ranch. When I am there I put it back on 1 second delay. I think the batteries will last a lot longer this go round.

Add a solar panel and battery and forget about it for a couple two or three years...

Texting cameras are a blast to use but can be costly. I have 3 of them. With my lease 450 miles away it is nice to get an idea of what is going on year round.
I am concerned about the cell company's doing away with 2G which is what mine use for the data transfer.

I went back and read all of the other posts. You don't add the covert to your current cell phone plan. It's on its own plan and no contract. You can adjust the size of the pic that it sends you(up to 400KB converted from up to a 12 megapixel picture). You get about 1 GB of data over a three month period for $25. I have two of them and they work very well. $600 for that camera, that's getting close to two of the Coverts. As far as bad reviews, I find bad reviews on just about every trail cam out there. I'm sure at some point something's going to happen and tick me off with the Covert, but that hasn't happened yet. I never had much luck with the Bushnell or the Primos to last more than a year with me so when I started looking for something else I ran into the Covert trail cams and I like them. There are some times when the batteries run low and the setting automatically change to not send to the camera. That is a default that is annoying if you don't remember to change the batteries. And the buttons can be hard to press when they are brand new out of the box. I guess that's too irritating to some. But its also something that once you figure that out it hasn't happened to me again. I'd rather have those little dilemas than the camera just stop working or not trigger at all, which happened to the Bushnell and the Primos cameras in my experiences.
It's been about 16 months with both cams. The pictures displaying on my facebook page are the compressed images that I receive from the trail cam. I need to change the quality up to 400KB and see how those turn out.

I have 11 of the Bushnells and have had 2 quit working. Bushnell replaced both of them no problem. They are not on your cellphone plan either. $10 per month for 1000 pictures. Check out www.WirelessTrophyCam.com I find them for around $300 but Bushnell just came out with another model that is more expensive. The reason I went with Bushnell vs covert is because the Bushnell has an app where the pics are sent instead of a text message or email. 50 text messages throughout the night is annoying vs just checking the app when you want to. My one gripe about the Bushnell cameras is the plastic housing and how easily it breaks when trying to attach with a strap and those plastic pieces. The newer model has metal attachment pieces so that's good except for the fact that I have 11 of the older model, and don't really need any of the newer models right now.

The new Covert (code black 12.0) is $34.99 for 3 months for 2 gigs of data. which is over 15k pictures. And now uses only an app. no more txting or emails of the pics.
This is the first one I have bought, but sends really good photos to the app. and they can be emailed or sent via txt. Plus can adjust all the settings on frequency of pics sent and trigger time.

Now that I like! Thanks for the info I will have to check it out. Can you share data on multiple cameras? Right now I am running 11 so its $110 per month. If I could run all of those for $35 per month that would save a bunch of money.

I believe they are all independent of one another. You pay for 3 months at a time. No Contract. And I think you can suspend service on them to stretch the time out, maybe?
I like the extra option the covert has. The extended antenna if needed. and the cable to run a external battery/solar panel. I mounted a solar panel onto an ammo box and hooked the cable from it to the camera. So now I don't have to go disturb the site until the corn runs out.
I can also have it send a real time picture from the camera using the app or website. Example when a hog is there eating and not moving. And you want to make sure he is still there before you walk in there on him.

I have no idea what all the Busnell or any other does, just sharing my experience with the Covert.

Interesting. Be nice to have one side by to compare. Maybe add a couple others to the game for testing.

Well, after a few months the Bushnell is still going strong so I ordered another. It has been very nice not having to check cameras. The batteries have run down once so far and I am thinking I should add a solar panel setup to increase the battery life. Yes they work very good added it to mine early and has run for two years with no issues
