I just ordered a couple more Mojo decoys for this season, which brings my total up to 5 motorized and 8 stationary dove decoys. It got me thinking, where should I draw the line? How many decoys did you start out with, how many do you use now, and how many more will you buy? What's been the most successful setup, as far as numbers and positioning? I'm interested to hear everyone's ideas.
Haha yea I polished that thing for hours.

I have the same dove mojo that I bought when they first released them and that is the only one I hunt over. I've never seen the need for more than one so i just keep it simple. I did however see some guys that had built a PVC dove tree and had 4 mojos on it and they were doing much better than anyone else in the field. May be something to try!

My dad does the same thing, but with a fake power line instead of a tree. I couldn't believe how many birds tried to land on that line. That's really what sold me on Mojos in the first place.
Haha yea I polished that thing for hours.

How does he place the mojos on the fake powerline? He runs an old flat electrical line from the gable of his shed to a light pole. We tried with round wire but the decoy clips won't stay upright on a round wire. We alternate a couple stationary decoys facing opposite directions, then a wind powered decoy, then a couple more stationary decoys. He lives in Wichita Falls where it's flat and windy so the decoys always spin. I have to use the battery powered ones here in Greenville. You can see for miles across his pasture. I've seen flocks of birds turn around from a long way off come try to land on his decoys. Pretty awesome.
Haha yea I polished that thing for hours.

2 mojos and 20 stationary dove decoys. I like to put them on the ground under the mojos as well as any fence or tree that will make them visible.

I usually use one or two monos. They work well on the mourning doves, but whitewings do not pay them much mind. I put stationary doves on the ground, on fences and dead tree limbs. Good to go!

1.5-2 dozen stationary in a J hook pattern with a half dozen mojos on the bottom of the J, then add a dozen more stationary in the middle hooked to a jerk rig. Sometimes in low wind situations I use a couple of bilge pump dove butts to move the dirt around a little.

I made a dove tree out of PVC. One mojo on top with 1-3 stationary decoys on the limbs and one mojo on the normal stake 10-15 feet away from the tree. The height of the mojo tree has really helped me especially in tall grass or heavy hunted public areas.

When I'm hunting on my spot up here by my house, I'll put a couple on some tree limbs above me. Even if it doesn't draw the birds in, it undoubtedly keeps their focus off of me when I draw down. The birds don't flare from my movement at all while those dudes are spinning.

On plowed fields or heavily grazed where there is a lot of open ground has anyone here ever tried a large number of stationary dove decoys or dove sillouettes on the ground. There is a field on my deer lease that dove cross going to roose. Whenever I see a large flock of dove on the ground anywhere in the field, those real dove will out decoy my mojo and suck up any dove that comes into the field. And this is a field with no other hunters to push them around, no way to get close to the flocks on the ground without just pushing them to the other side of the field, and if you leave them alone, they will stay and walk around for hours with a few coming and going now and then. I have put dove decoys on the ground before, but never in enough numbers to make any difference. I have noticed in pictures online that the pigeon hunters will put a quite a great number of decoys on the ground. I am wondering if it might be a tactic I should try.

We use a decoy pole by Lohman called the Powerline. Mojo in the center and 4 static decoys on the crossbar. On the ground we use Pocket Rocket Dove Decoys, they are inflatable and come with their own stake move with a breath of air. Our setup for our open fields are 6 Powerlines across the field and between 15 to 50 pocket rockets. Powerlines are adjustable in height 4 to 13ft slide aluminum poles with pass thru pipe stake.

Here's my new setup for this year.....it folds up really nicely and once I make a bag for it it'll be super easy to pack into my fields...20ft of fence, 5ft tall. I've gone through a lot of different versions of my fence to get to this setup....this one is light enough to carry and folds up to be about 5ft long and probably 6 to 8 inches in diameter. I still need to come up with a bag for it. If anyone in the DFW area wants one, I can build one just like this for a little more than what you can buy a mojo tree for, or a smaller one, same length, just 3ft tall and 1 row of wire, for less than what a mojo tree runs right now.

11 decoys. I like your style. I put some more on the ground too :p I have a bunch of ugly ones that I made from expanding foam and just spray painted that I put around the fence to finish out the spread....probably a dozen more. I put them on a long piece of paracord so I can just pick them all up at once when I'm ready to bail out.
