Me and the ole lady took a chl class and had a "salesman" try to sell us on Texas law shields insurance I guess you could say. My question is does anyone have any experience with them?

I've had them for 3 years....haven't shot anyone in that time frame so really can't answer the experience thing. They have other benefits...like drawing up a trust for free. Reasonably priced protection if you carry.

Had the same thing last year when I went for my renewal. Liked the premise but the salesman was a bit pushy. If it works like it says it could be a good deal.
I didn’t need it. My fiancée is an Attorney, I hunt with two of her partners and her best friend is also an Attorney with a CHL and versed in these matters.

It all seems like a good deal and so did buying a new truck when I didn't need it. Wasn't sure if the salesman was making it sound good or if it really is a good thing to have.

Report the CHL instructor to DPS for making you sit through a presentation so he can get a kickback. There is a set amount of classroom time per the state regs and if he is including a 30 minute sales pitch toward that time, he needs to be reported.

After I took a class they had a salesman come give a pitch about it. I figured it was a good deal, mine was about 100 bucks for the year. I would rather have it my entire life and not need it than use my firearm 1 time and need it when I don't have it.

I signed up with TLS after taking my CHL. My wife does not have her CHL but I included her in the coverage. Seemed like a good deal to me in today's litigious society. I agree with GtT, better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it.

Have had coverage with them for two years now. I hope I never have to call them.

I don't have it. The woman who tried to sell it to me in my CHL class was a moron. She was going 110 mph through Huntsville because she was afraid of the prison. Then the cop pulled her over and she handed him her CHL. The cop asked if the gun was in the car and if it was loaded. She responded, "Oh yeah...I think so it's in my new Coach bag." Which freaked the cop out (with good reason she wasn't the sharpest tool in the shed)and he gave her some orders. She didn't follow them and refused to do anything he said. Because the prison was nearby and she thought that a prisoner was going to escape and come after her. If they had a better salesman I might've purchased from them, but they missed their chance with me.

The are having a real hard time getting good experienced lawyers to sign up with them to take legal shield clients because legal shield wants a 25% kickback from the attorneys. They wind up with the new, inexperienced, untried lawyers (and the lousy ones) as those attorneys don't have any clients anyway so they have nothing to lose. You would be just as well off getting a court appointed attorney for a criminal matter. When they called me and wanted me to sign up and give them a 25% kickback I told them to go to hell!!!!

As for as I know there is two options for a CHL person. One is the Insurance offered by the NRA and the other is Texas Law Shield who offers Lawyer representation. My wife and I choose Texas Law Shield. I like the idea of having a lawyer on call just in case I need them. We have had ours about 5 years. I think now you can be covered in all 50 states. I haven't heard anything about having trouble getting lawyers to sign up.
