Posted this on other forum last week, couldn't log in here for awhile so here ya go.

My son has been bugging the heck out of me for break barrel 28ga ever since one of our local heroes spoiled him shooting clays with his 12ga Browning Citori with 28ga tubes. So weekly since August he has reminded me about his good grades, attitude and anything else he could think of to persuade me. Couldn't swing the the Browning but was able to find this starter. He hasn't looked at his 870 since...

Just a reference on shot size, he was using 5/8oz #7 SuperX loads at 30-35 yards. Shot 7 shells, first 4 were misses and last 3 shots resulted in the birds below.

I was worried that the #7 cheap 5/8oz loads weren't enough for ducks so I took it out a few days before Christmas to test it out(birds in pic below). These are deadly little guns on birds. Thank you to the old salts on here that suggested the 28ga, guess yall knew what you were talking about.

Very cool.

What gun is that? I need to do the same for my 11 year old daughter.

Stoger Condor 28ga was $399 and my daughters 28ga. H&R was $179. Both are quality inexpensive guns imo.

So that would be better than a 410 but not all the way to a 20 ga?

Yes, lil bigger than a .410, lil smaller than a 20ga. He shot a 12ga last season and the first half of this one. The 28ga. is a little funner to shoot IMO.

I like your style. Adds a touch of class shooting a twice barrel.

Looks like he is proud of that gun, and sounds like he earned it with good grades. That's great congrats. They say the 28 gauge patterns the best.

Thanks Guy, I think you may be right. That lil gun has taken 8 birds and has only been shot 14 times. He shot his first green head with it last Monday.
