Had ta skim threw make sure didnt say something dumb.. Years ago whin son got inta hunting we both got 270 by Savage plenty big for deer & hogs around here & if went on elk hunt in Colorado, could still do the job... Wife got the 243 in Savage... i got cheap posts....

When you can afford an Alaskan Brown Bear hunt, I think you will be beyond the $400 .300 Win mag stage.
$30,000 hunt you will surely be able to afford a little nicer rifle/scope...
