What would you call to small?
I know big bucks are leary of smaller pens but I've seen them inside before.
Anyone have pictures?
What is an acceptable AVG size yeah yeah I know bigger is better.
We used to make em 2-3 cattle panels a side, the new ones are just barbed wire.

I had a pen the last two years that was 16' x 16'. The deer never seemed to have a problem jumping in and out of the pen; big racks, spikes, does, juveniles, mature. A square pen with four hog panels didn't seem to phase them.

I had a pen that was 2 panels by 2 panels square. I cut a part out at the top on each side to make it a little easier for the deer to get in. Yet, tall enough to keep the hogs out. Worked great for me.

Actually, a bunch did.

Guys, I have round, 36" welded wire pens but a few hungry cows have bent some of the wire; my question is, "can I reinforce the pens with the orange construction mesh fencing that I see often" and/or rebar mesh panels which closely resemble cattle panels. Home Depot has these and they are only 6ft. vs. 8ft. cattle panels making easier to transport. I think they are a stronger than welded wire but probably weaker than panels. What say the forum?

A square pen with four hog panels didn't seem to phase them. Really? The determining factor in question is quantity of deer in the pen not quality. You should see a big difference this year with that larger pen you have now. Just saying...

x2 I would also add that a circle gives you the maximum area for given number of panels

I cut cattle panels in half. Keeps the hogs out fine. We don't have cattle. I used 6 panels. I would use more but can't afford it. Next year I will make them 10 panels.
Deer come in them but not a lot of deer. It might be because we don't have much deer or maybe they are scared. Idk.
I put a half of a bucket over the spinner to make the corn only go under the feeder. It spreads it in a 6' spot.

Here's an idea you might try if you don't want to make it as big as some of the others. Brush it in with sticks and tree limbs etc, make it feel more natural to them as if they were just jumping over brush. That might make them less leary.
