OK guys, the first cool front of the year came sneaking through and before long it's going to be fall.

Where did you shoot that Muley? Also, I will be launching from Surfside the weekend to do some offshore fishing. Water is supposed to be nice this weekend.

Matador WMA. And yes, just got home and the surf is slick and green. There will be some specks going in my cooler this evening!

Killed both of these on public but I won't say where Both at least ten years ago. Haven't hunted public in a long time.

I don't want to get to far off the subject so when I get a chance I will PM you the pics from this Saturday at Surfside. We tagged out on Bull Reds and caught 4 black tip and 1 hammerhead, oh and 1 gafftop. Any luck?

My dads buck he shot out of my setup.. I put him on my water hole spot cause he was cryin' his knees hurt... nice me, lucky him... go figure..



My little scrapper.. I stalked up on him, is my first mule deer buck ever and with a bow.. From now on only mature ones since my first is out of the way.

I love Black Gap. Hunted there 3 times as a youth, and have applied there every year since and have yet to be drawn again as an adult.

My Scimitar bull from 2012 at Mason Mountain WMA(2011/12 draw). I felt like I won the lottery when I get the notice in the mail. Beautiful place, great staff that work there, and one of my top spot/stalk hunt experiences. Wonderful experience all the way around.

A lot of users tend to ignor sticky posts so i would make your posts stand alone in the forum also or instead of posting them here If it were me.
More fun to read the stories behind them too.

(not this year but...) I shot this Nilgia cow a couple years ago at Laguna Atascosa. It was my first time to put in for this hunt and I was lucky enough to get drawn. I shot the Nilgia the first morning after hikng 3 miles in to avoid the rest of the hunters. I had just got set up next to some mesquite when it sounded like a herd of horses running toward me. It scared the living sh^t out of me and I jumped up ready to run for cover. About twenty Nilgia came running within feet of me. This cow stopped to look at me and before she could run off I put here on the ground with m 30-06 Contrary to what we were told during the pre-hunt meeting I was on my own to pack it out. After twelve miles of hiking that day I got the Nilgia in the truck. Well worth it Nilgia is very good eating. I hope to get drawn again one day.
For you guys that have been lucky enough to get drawn. Look for fresh piles of crap. From what I have been told Nilgia return to the same place for several days. They make big piles LOL

After 10 years of hoping to get drawn I finally got a permit to hunt the Matador WMA. I shot this 18 3/8" inside 7 points Monday evening at about 5:30 after a long drag I finally got it to the check in at 10:30.
I rattled in 14 different bucks in 2 days the best buck I saw came to the horns and almost run me over. I could not put the horns down and get my gun up fast enough or I would have been posing with a true trophy buck.
The buck in the pictures I shot at a little over 300 yards. Nothing like hearing the gun go off then what seems like 5 seconds go by you hear the bullet slap the animal and watch him drop where he is standing.
The Matador is not an easy hunt. There is very limited road access and lots of very rough terrain making it very difficult to get a deer back to the truck.
My friend that was drawn with me got real sick the first day so he ended up heading home with out really getting to hunt.
