I bought a 24' cargo trailer last year.. I rented it to Superduty for his Washington move, right after I bought it.. When I got it back, I started the conversion.. Here's a string of pictures and some narration. First thing was to replace a piece of the skin that was damaged.. Then father in law helped me strip the paneling from inside, and insulate the whole trailer.. walls and ceiling. did a little wiring.. then went back in with new luan paneling we temp'd in the panel shown here, just to use the camper as a glorified "tent" a couple of times.. added an RV style door handle and latch Then started adding bathroom-shower area

started framing up cabinets and mounted electrical panel and converter (battery charging) here's one of the shower with FRP walls, faucet installed, etc. Built a storage cabinet-pantry beside the frig. That's an RV furnace below the frig.. added counter top and sink-- wife didn't want a tiny little RV sink. So we got a single tub stainless. added a hatch to access the fresh water tank drain, plumbing, wiring, etc. here is a pic of kitchen area with cabinets "completed" Bunks in the back- Mounted E trac to the walls. You can move the slats up and down, put the plywood up or down, and add air mattresses

Mounted a flat screen on the pantry Right now, I'm framing up an overhead cabinet in the front end.. The microwave will be in the bracket hanging down there on the right side. Tonight I plan to get the cabinet "skinned"..

I got a damaged camper, and salvaged many things from it.. I am buying another one this weekend, to get a few more things from it.. awning, microwave, generator, air conditioner, etc... I will likely replace my AC with one from the newer camper, then sell mine on CL.. It's taken me about 11 months to get it where it is now. There have been lots of changes and revisions (read that as Mama didn't like what I'd done, so I did it over) along the way.. It's been a blast. And when I'm done with this one, I'll likely sell it and do another.
We put 3 road kings in the camper and went to Daytona in March. We can haul the Kawasaki Mule, in it.. Lots of room for toys !!

Nice work. You wouldn't have a entry door with screen off of one of your salvage trailers you might sell, would you? I am looking for one for my lease trailer.

thanks for the kind words guys.. It's been a lot of fun. using it along the way has been beneficial in the build. You figure out "yeah, I'd like this, or yeah I'll change this, etc."

Is this more economical than buying a used trailer and updating it?

Put up some "finished" or "close to finished" pics so we can see the end product.
I showed this to my wife and we're thinking about doing one on a smaller enclosed trailer.

Ron H, The trouble with toy haulers is: To get one large enough to haul 3 Touring Size Harleys, a Kawasaki Mule, multiple 4 wheelers, etc., you'd have to buy one of the huge ones.. (BIG MONEY). Then tow that big thing.. (lots of Fuel expense) We have about 5500.00 in this one, including the cost of the trailer, all the creature comforts, dual air conditioners, full kitchen, awning, everything... Now there is lots of elbow grease in it. But I work cheap. At least when I'm paying myself. We hauled an Ultra Classic and 2 Road Kings with fairings to Daytona in March. Have about 8' wide x 14' long clear open "garage" area.. Plus another 5'x6' of floor space in the kitchen area. The trick to doing this on the cheap, is to find a trailer that you can buy cheap (damaged, scrapped, etc.), and salvage all of your goodies out of it. The money I've got in mine, I bought new appliances, power panel, LED Lights, etc..

HnF, I will get some pics this evening. I am installing 2 fold up sofa/sleepers that I recently got out of a salvaged camper. These fold up flat against the walls (4" out), then fold down to make sofas or beds when needed.
The only thing I haven't figured out, is what I want to do on the "garage area" floor. I have linoleum in the kitchen/bathroom area, and carpet in the middle section.. But I haven't decided on the back 8' area, what I want to cover the floor.

Here's a pic of the 3 Harleys in the trailer... You'd be hard pressed to find any factory toy hauler with enough room to do this.
