I'm trying to plan a mule deer hunt to lake Meredith since I don't know anyone that has private land hunting. What I'm wondering is what are the odds realistically that there is a BIG mule deer at lake Meredith? Would I be better off going out of state for one? Any opinions are greatly appreciated. Thanks. I'm trying to complete the North American Super Slam which seems impossible but it gives me something to aim for

Probably better off saving some money and eventually going on a guided trip for a Muley in Texas. Chances are slim you'll see a Mule Deer buck on Lake Merideth, and even slimmer that it will be big. You actually have a better chance of shooting a whitetail there than a mule deer.
To be sure of hitting the target, shoot first and call whatever you hit the target.www.NewHopeEquine.com - Health and Healing through Horses.

Slim to none. PM Erath Kid. He can fill you in on the hunting there. He and his son hunted there a couple years ago.
Also PM Mulie Mike. He can put you on the right track to success.

Pitchfork is right on. Beautiful place though. It looks like a pumpkin patch out there with all the blaze orange. Like I said though, it is gorgeous, especially close to Alibates...hint hint.

We went in '08 and it was just like everyone else describes. Every where we thought looked good there would be several orange spots scattered a cpl hundred yards away. We did manage to see several mulie doe but never a buck in the 4 days we were there. Never saw a WT either.
No doubt about the AR crap, just damn shame hunters don't have self control and knowledge

Mule Deer shot 2012 at Lake Meredith. Yes it's true as I have held these antlers in my hands. There are big ones there.

Went to Meredith in 2006 and it was terrible. Walked several miles to get to the "sweet spot" and the sun came up and orange vests everywhere.

Bulldog, that is an awesome Mulie. I've seen pics of some beasts from Oldham cty. I'm sure they're out there, just tough to find. And if you see one chances are a bunch of other people are looking at it too.
